Earrings are the of the most popular pieces of jewelry after rings. 

The first pieces of jewelry I made incorporating lampwork glass beads were earrings.

Large Forged Head Pin and Domed Earrings DIY Tutorial

Reverse texture Copper and silver earrings DIY Tutorial

There are many ways to texture metal; one of the easiest is to use hammers that have some design cut in to their faces. There are some available at jewelry suppliers or you can make your own.
